Buffering is what we do to avoid feeling emotion.

Buffering can look like:

  • Drinking alcohol

  • Overeating or binging

  • Overworking

  • Sex

  • Shopping

  • Working out

  • Watching pornography

  • Watching Netflix or binging on a tv series

  • Scrolling on social media for long periods of time
